It's the end of the line for the Juicy Couture on M Street in Georgetown. It's been coming for awhile: in 2013, parent company Kate Spade & Co (formerly Fifth & Pacific) announced that a number of Juicy stores would be converted to Kate Spades. Then the brand that catapulted the velour track suit to fame was sold to Authentic Brands Group, which inked a deal to sell Juicy Couture at Kohl's.
Right now in Georgetown, "Store Closing" signs are up at the Juicy Couture, and everything inside is 50% off. But the pickings are slim. Most of the shelves are empty, and there's just a few racks of merchandise in the front room.
So is Kate Spade replacing Juicy in Georgetown? A source told Racked DC that Kate Spade will indeed renovate and move in to the Juicy space, and in an even more intriguing bit of news, that Kate Spade Saturday will open in Kate Spade's current location at 3061 M Street NW. As for Juicy Couture stores in Tysons Galleria and the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, the source said they are expected to stay open through June. We have yet to hear from a Kate Spade publicist on the matter, so stay posted.
