Turn Shopping Into Charity At This Year's Lou Lou Day

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Lou Lou Boutiques will celebrate their third annual Lou Lou Day on August 2 as a way to give back to their community. This year's Lou Lou Day will benefit Dress for Success, a charity that provides professional attire, career support, and development tools for disadvantaged working women.

The goal for this year's Lou Lou Day is to raise $25,000 for Dress For Success. For every $40 spent on August 2, customers will receive a $10 gift certificate, and 15% of the day's proceeds will benefit Dress For Success. Previous Lou Lou Days combined have raised over $25K for selected women's charities with past recipients that included The Foundation for Women's Cancer, House of Ruth and Bethany House.

Events leading up to Lou Lou Day include a $1 Earring Back Drive during the month of July, where you can donate $1 to Dress For Success and receive a pouch of earring backs. From July 21 through August 2, Lou Lou Boutiques will host The Little Things Accessory Drive, where you can donate gently used accessories. For more information on these events and where to find a Lou Lou Boutique near you, check out the promotional campaign video and event descriptions. —Kate Friedman
