Welcome to Dress Code, a new feature where we pick a Washington event and ask three of our favorite shops to solve the what-do-I-even-wear-to-that dilemma.
A sneak peek at Wink's Fourth of July outfit
Got Fourth of July plans yet? We asked beloved boutiques in Old Town, Georgetown, and on U Street to style the perfect patriotic-meets-chic outfit to watch fireworks in Washington this Friday, and they were more than up for the challenge. And best of all, no matter what you've got in store — from fireworks watching on the Mall with the tourists to a rooftop barbecue — the shoppable outfits from REVEL Style, Wink, and Lettie Gooch are Fourth of July foolproof.
Where: REVEL Style
What: peek trim top, $37; hardware necklace in gold, $24; blossom kimono in midnight, $39; double chain necklace, $24
Why: "This loose fit top is such a cool and relaxed piece, so cute with wedges and your favorite pair of denim shorts," said REVEL Style owner Francesca Tanedo. "I love simple pieces like this with eclectic details like the peekaboo trim across the waist. The outfit on the right is great for visiting the sites around D.C. and when you're ready to relax and watch some fireworks, throw on the blossom kimono to take the outfit from day to night! This light airy kimono is beautiful blowing on windy rooftops and features D.C.'s favorite flower: cherry blossoms!"
Where: Wink
What: Lionette Persia arm-cuff, $385; Mar Y Sol opal clutch, $95; Le Spec sunglasses, $80; Antik Batik sparkle sandal, $275; Lucca Couture high lo shadow stripe dress, $105
Why: According to Paige Speyer, owner of Wink, this Lucca Couture dress is perfect for a rooftop Independence Day party. Express your personal style with this Lionette arm-cuff and Antik Batik shoes to out-sparkle the fireworks. This red Mar Y Sol clutch adds a subtle "flare" of patriotism, without turning your outfit into the Star-Spangled Banner. Finally, complete your look with these fun Le Spec sunglasses, and people will be pledging allegiance to your Fourth ensemble.
Where: Lettie Gooch
What: Collective Concepts orange lace detail top: $58; Level 99 denim romper, $138; Ilse Jacobsen turquoise knee high rain boots, $208
Why: "We love this look this fun and flirty look for Fourth of July fireworks in D.C.," said Lettie Gooch owner Theresa Watts, who styled this outfit for Lettie Gooch customer Bindi. The forecast has a 20% chance of rain for July 4, so cross your fingers that it doesn't happen. But just in case, Watts pulled these cute turquoise rain boots from Ilse Jacobsen, paired with a denim romper and feminine shirt from Collective Concepts.
