The Wisconsin Avenue retail space previously occupied by Rugby and Rugby Cafe has a new tenant. Nadeau, a furniture shop specializing in hand-crafted wood pieces made in countries like Indonesia and India, softly opened last week. A grand opening is in the works for this month. Nadeau was previously located in Alexandria. We took a spin around the sizable shop, which features reasonably priced furniture in brightly painted colors and gilded metallics, as well as pieces incorporating reclaimed wood or industrial touches. Even the gigantic Buddha sculpture near the front door is affordable. It's $170, and store manager Vecenté Murray reports they've sold two already.
