Beloved indie boutique Need Supply is making Richmond a must-visit with style heavy-hitters. Last week, the shop hosted renowned L.A.-based handbag designer Clare Vivier as part of their "Meet The Makers" series, and Vivier had it on very good authority that Richmond was the place to be. Turned out Steven Alan himself told Vivier how much fun he had in Richmond with Need Supply for "Meet The Makers," and Vivier said she wanted to join in too.
"It's not the first time a designer has asked us [about Meet The Makers]. It's really cool that people are approaching us and wanting to do it and wanting to go to Richmond," Need Supply's Molly Szkotak told Racked DC. "That's really unique." More than 200 shoppers turned out for the event, which included CV-themed cocktails and a free monogram with purchase by Vivier's official monogrammer Walker Baron.
While in Richmond, Vivier also met with VCU fashion merchandising students for an hour-long talk on how she got started in the business and how important it is to stay true to your own aesthetic. Want to know more about the Clare Vivier? For Meet The Makers, Need Supply created a behind-the-scenes video showcasing Vivier in her L.A. headquarters, telling the story of the beginnings of her brand and what's in store for the future. It's timely too, since word's out today that Vivier will expand into men's accessories, shoes, and clothes.
