Our sister site Racked NY reports that in order to show support for Gap Inc.'s decision to increase wages for their US-based employees, President Obama showed up unannounced at a Gap store on 42nd Street yesterday for a quick shopping session/photo op. Obama spent $154.85 on two sweaters for his daughters and a workout jacket for Michelle — trivia, apparently the First Lady's not a fan of hoodies. He opted for crew neck sweaters over V-neck, fearing wardrobe malfunctions. "I'm worried the V-neck is going to slip," he said.
But maybe shopping at Gap isn't going to be a regular thing for Obama. He turned down an employee's request to apply for a Gap credit card, even though it would've gotten him a discount on the three tops.
