Score some major cool points for Springfield. Instead of opening in downtown D.C., the Washington area's first free-standing Topshop is headed to Springfield Town Center. The Topshop in Springfield will be 5,000 square feet, and is set for a fall opening. A rep for Topshop told Racked DC: "The store is slated to open mid-October."

The former Springfield Mall is currently being redeveloped into a fancy, mixed-use development and is rumored to also include Michael Kors, H&M, Vans, Dick's Sporting Goods, and LA Fitness as new tenants.

Racked DC also inquired as to why the DMV isn't getting a Topman, like the other new locations opening across the country. We'll update as soon as possible. What do you think? NoVa folks should be excited, but will Washingtonians ride the blue line out to Franconia-Springfield for Topshop? Sound off in the comments.
