Welcome to Editor's Picks, a weekly round-up of what we're buying (or at least stalking) this week.
Freebird by Steven Lasso Chelsea Booties, $245 at ShopBop
Racked SF associate editor Esther Hahn: There's something innately sexy about the androgyny of Freebird by Steven's Lasso booties. Wear them with your tightest skinny jeans, a fitted denim button-up shirt, a structured jacket, and a wide-brimmed felt hat. You'll look the part of a well-heeled, well-traveled city slicker who just may have roped a cow or two in her past. The boots also come in a couple shades of brown, but I think the black best lends itself to this air of mystery and adventure.
Clarisonic Opal Sonic Skin Infusion System, $185, Sephora
Racked Vegas editor Susan Stapleton: Confession: Every year I like to buy myself something kind of pricey in the beauty world to kick-start my skincare routine. This year it was the Clarisonic Opal, the cool new gadget that helps your eye cream penetrate more deeply. The toy quite frankly reassures that I actually apply eye cream, because if I'm going to spend $185 on a beauty tool, you'd better believe I'm going to use it. Even more reassuring, it seems as if those fine lines are becoming less evident now that I'm moisturizing twice a day. Sure, it's indulgent, but if it kicks me in the wallet to take care of my skin, it's worth it. And so are you.
Cadet Aviator Denim Pant, $248
Racked NY Menswear Specialist Mickey Sery: In winter, there's usually a disconnect between my big boots and my pants. Either I have to roll up my trousers, or I need to do some fancy origami to tuck and fold them into my boots. These Cadet Aviator Denim Pants are the perfect solution to any menswear boot dilemma. The pants feature a ribbed cuff at the bottom, making it easy to fit to your styling of choice. If denim isn't your thing, the Aviator Pant comes in a range of different fabrics and colors for all your boot-wearing needs.
Voce Keen Powers cuff, $200 at Fiat Lux
Racked SF editor Kristen Philipkoski: Lately I'm dreaming of escaping the winter doldrums to warmer temps, bronzed skin and sleeveless tops. And in my bare-armed dreams, I'm wearing this star cuff by Voce Keen. I'm a sucker for a star motif, and I've never seen one quite like this. Plus I love what the folks at Fiat Lux suggest: "Wear it two points out for evil doing or single point up for good." Don't worry, I plan to use my star powers strictly for good.
Drybar's Blowout in a Box gift set, $199
Racked Chicago editor Jenny Berg: Blowout sensation Drybar just opened up shop in Chicago. And while it's pretty close to where I live, I wish they'd open another one in my building. On the off chance that doesn't happen, I got the next best thing: the salon's Buttercup Blow Dryer. Though nothing can totally achieve the professional blow-out look like actually having a professional do it, this tool comes close. It dries hair speedily and has crazy technology to take down frizz and add shine. My recommendation? Get the "Blowout in a Box" gift set. For just nine extra bucks, you get the Buttercup, a round brush, and all kinds of products that give your tresses that fresh-from-the-salon smell.
