Wisconsin Avenue's The French Apartment furniture shop always had that certain "je ne sais quoi," with casually gorgeous vintage and antique pieces in whites, beiges, and gilded metal arranged just so. That style will definitely be missed. The French Apartment sent an email yesterday that the shop is closing at the end of January after nearly five years in Georgetown.
But here's hoping The French Apartment's girly glam spirit will live on. The email indicates that the owner, Kathleen Mc Garrah, is "exploring the option of an online-only presence."
Want to shop in store before the doors close? Store display items are now on sale, and accessories, "as is" picture frames, and odds and ends will be priced under $20. As for furniture, any discounts will be on a case-by-case basis. Scroll through The French Apartment's closing email announcement to see furniture that you can score before the store closes, from 1950s framed black poodle portraits to elegant brass side tables, gold-tone garden seats, and lucite chairs.
