Michelle Obama celebrates her big 5-0 today, and Politico Magazine is taking a look back at her evolution towards fashion icon status. The magazine pulled together 50 of the best photos of the First Lady since 2008, including shots of her in the Oval Office, with her girls, at State Dinners, and dancing in the street in South Africa.
And Charlotte Cowles writes an essay for Politico diving into Michelle's style choices over the years, from her Alexander McQueen White House state dinner gown controversy to that whole bangs mid-life crisis hairdo. For proof of Michelle Obama's fashion cred, Cowles writes: "With her signature bright jewel-tones, belted waists and A-line shapes, the first lady set trends we now take for granted."
