It's been a year in the making, and today The Frye Company's new Georgetown flagship store opens its doors to the public, with an official opening on Friday — just as Washingtonians are beginning to contemplate their fall boot purchases. And there are a mind-blowing number of men's and women's styles to choose from at the flagship store, which is divided into rooms displaying Frye classics like the Harness, Campus, and Engineer boots. Frye fans will find oxfords, flats, and leather handbags and satchels too.
And the Americana vibe is fitting, since the shop is housed in D.C.'s oldest firehouse. Decor includes an old fire hose, plenty of leather chairs, a vintage flag, as well as 6,000 leather harnesses suspended from the ceiling. The space is event-ready too, with an outdoor patio and an upper level with comfy seating.
