Everyone's been talking lately about D.C.'s growing fashion start-up scene, and now here comes a homegrown beauty business. Today is the launch day for Mischo Beauty, a new cruelty-free, toxin-free nail polish collection from Columbia Heights resident, Kitiya King. With a background in cosmetology, chemistry, and beauty blogging, King always dreamed of creating a product line. And not being able to find quality, toxin-free nail polish when she was pregnant inspired King to create her debut "The Fashion Week" collection, showcasing glossy, rich shades that have already made a W magazine editor's must list. King is working on bringing her products to local salons, and customers can shop online, taking 25% off their first order with the coupon code "launch."
Since King obviously knows nail polish, she shared two of her absolute favorite places in the Washington area to get a manicure. And bonus, King called out the Washington, D.C. salon where she got her adorable Michelle Williams-esque pixie cut.
Where do you get your nails done?
I love The Emerald Door, it's a nail spa in Silver Spring. They are based on using natural and organic products. The nail polishes they use are the best of the best as far as the selection out there. They are very, very cognizant about sterilizing equipment and conscious about cleanliness. And they do great work.
And the Mandarin Oriental. I love their spa. It's totally luxurious.
