Three D.C. Stores Throwing Halloween Bashes This Thursday

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

D.C. boutiques and stores are getting in the Halloween spirit, with a few treats on October 31. Here are three fun things to do on Thursday:

Everyone knows the best part of Halloween is making dogs dress up in silly costumes, and now thanks to Metro Mutts, there will be plenty of photographic evidence. The pet store's location at 508 H Street NE is hosting a doggy costume photobooth contest, with prizes for three winners and donations of two cans of dog food to the Washington Humane Society for each puppy photographed. Too busy to hunt down a dog Halloween costume? Rentals will be available for the photobooth too.

At Miss Pixie's at 1626 14th Street NW, fortune teller Venae — a friend of Pixie's — will be in the store to give 15 minute readings from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Purchase anything at the store and the reading is discounted to just $10 bucks. Expect costumes and candy too.

And all customers at Lou Lou Boutique locations on Halloween can treat themselves to a mystery discount. This is vague, yes, but we don't want to spoil the mystery.
