Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

It's definitely happening: the trendiest of spinning classes will soon call D.C. home. The Washingtonian reported yesterday that the NYC-based spin studio SoulCycle officially signed a lease at 23rd Street and M Street NW in the West End neighborhood. The studio is slated to open in 2014.

For the uninitiated, the SoulCycle workout involves an intense cardio workout in a dark studio lit by candlelight with a totally energizing playlist. The studio inspires cult-like devotion, despite the price tag — in New York CIty, one class is priced at $34. Although, in NYC, you could end up sitting on a bike next to SoulCycle fan Jake Gyllenhaal. That's one aspect of class they can't replicate in Washington.
