Yesterday was the last day of custom menswear company Indochino's stay in D.C. at LivingSocial's 918 F Street space as part of the brand's Traveling Tailor Pop-Up Shop. But here's a bit of intel: they'll be back before you know it, as reps for Indochino tell Racked DC that they're working on another pop-up in Washington in the fall. The location for that event is TBD though, since LivingSocial is set to close their 918 F Street event space.
In case you missed the event, after the jump, you'll find a little photo gallery of what to expect for next time. Clients began their custom suit journey at a fit station, where Indochino Style Guides take 14 measurements and record your body posture as well, entering everything into Indochino's iPad app. Then it's off to see fabric samples and personalize your suit with the help of a Style Guide. There's a dizzying array of ways clients can customize their look, and you can even get your Twitter handle monogrammed in the lining of the suit jacket. Really! "I see it all the time," said Marlon Thompson, senior manager of retail operations for Indochino.
Custom suits start at $449, and Thompson told us that the average spent at the D.C. pop-up was $620. Besides suits, custom tuxedos and shirting were popular buys, as well as accessories like cufflinks and tie bars. Although customers can shop online whenever at Indochino's website, bringing the pop-up back to Washington was a no-brainer for the e-tailer. "It's a suiting kind of culture," he told Racked DC. We asked Thompson what D.C. is getting right in terms of suit style, and what we could improve. We've got the colors down, he said. "What D.C. needs to work on is fit," Thompson noted, based on a day walking around Capital Hill. "If these guys were wearing a suit that was two sizes smaller, they would look so much better."
