This morning, the first Wal-Mart locations in Washington, D.C. officially opened for business. Located at 5929 Georgia Avenue NW and 99 H Street NW, both 110,000-square-feet stores will be open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight.
And despite the months of controversy over wages at the big box store, the Washington Post reported that more than 100 people waited outside the Georgia Avenue location for the store's 8 a.m. opening. Though the stores are smaller than Super Centers, expect the traditional Wal-Mart offerings like groceries, clothing, electronics, and even hunting and fishing licenses, according to the Post.
This is just the beginning of Wal-Mart's tenure in the District of Columbia: WJLA reports that four more stores are on the way.
